N'Awlins

Like Memphis, we have 2 nights reserved here in New Orleans.  This is by design and allows for Kevin waking up hung over once without having to get up early and ride all day, and of course allows for a day of sightseeing locally.  Donna does not suffer like I do, but nonetheless appreciates the day of putzing around and not having to pack back up.

So we got here sweaty and aggravated, damp from the rain, and fairly stressed out, but still in way better shape than we'd arrived in Memphis.  We actually had time for showers, and were already staying right on Bourbon Street, so out we went to a place Donna loves for dinner, and whatever other hijinks we could get ourselves into thereafter.  We did a pretty good job of that, and after a fun night and too many hurricanes, we stumbled back to our hotel in a raging thunderstorm.

Today, we got up when we damn well felt like it, found a bus tour that sounded cool, and went down to Cafe du Monde for beignets and cafe au lait, wandering the French Market until it was time to be picked up.

After dinner and a Sazerac or 2 at the carousel bar in the Hotel Monteleone, we got in early enough to get a head start on packing and get this damn blog back up to date.  I've confirmed that the route to tomorrow's hotel in Galveston is open, and we should be in the bayous of southwestern Louisiana bright and early tomorrow.
